Chocolate, red chile & orange? Yes please!
El Bombón 505 Cacao Liqueur, Red Sauce Red Chile Liqueur and our new Orange You Glad to See Me? Triple Sec team up here with tequila and orange juice for a spicy, earthy & slightly sweet treat!
We created the Three Amigos cocktail for our feature article in the November 2021 issue of ABQ the Magazine, and it is a yummy one!
We think the name is perfect because: a) it uses 3 of our spirits, b) the movie Three Amigos was largely filmed in NM, and c) our original name for El Bombón was El Guapo which is also the villain in that movie!!! (There is already a spirit named El Guapo, so we changed the name to El Bombón, which we like even better.)
You can enjoy Three Amigos on the rocks or shaken with ice & strained, as pictured. A cacao nib salt/sugar blend rim is not necessary at all, but if you are so inclined, it takes this to the next level.
RECIPE
1 oz El Bombón 505 Cacao Liqueur1 oz Red Sauce Red Chile Liqueur
1 oz Orange You Glad to See Me? Triple Sec
1 oz Tequila, poured briefly in a Himilayan salt shot glass to "salt the shot"
1 oz orange juice
Cacao Nib Rim Salt Garnish (optional)
1/4 cup sea salt
2 Tbsp granulated sugar
1 Tbsp ground cacao nibs
orange, lemon or lime wedge, to adhere salt to glass rim.
First, prepare the glass
Combine the ingredients for the rim salt in a jar and shake. Rub edge of glass with orange wedge, then dip glass edge into rim salt mixture.
For the cocktail
Combine in a shaker with ice. Shake, strain into prepared martini glass or pour over new ice.
I like to garnish with a little candied red chile (pictured). If you would like that recipe, please send me a message through our contact form! We may also start selling the candied chile... stay tuned for that!
